Tiger Tales: Paddle & Board

Her love for hosting, entertaining and creating combined with a secret entrepreneurial spirit led Jennifer Sanders to start one of Clemson’s most enjoyed businesses, Paddle & Board. From gameday tailgates, to birthdays, to exam week treats, Paddle & Board offers “grazing boards” for all occasions.

The company actually started on a whim in the spring of 2020, when Sanders began creating charcuterie-style grazing boards as a hobby from a commercial shared space. Business grew exponentially after word spread through a Clemson parents Facebook group. Almost two years later, Paddle & Board has opened a storefront in Downtown Clemson and hired a team of three Clemson students to help out.

“It’s such a unique concept for a college town,” Sanders said. “We try to take something that a lot of people tend to make really fancy and show it doesn’t have to be fancy, it can be enjoyed in a really casual setting.”

As a Clemson graduate, Sanders loves serving this community and bringing them together over a shared treat. She hopes to continue growth by increasing order capacity, hiring more employees, giving back to nonprofit organizations such as Ripple of One, incorporating ClemsonLIFE students in the business, and possibly expanding to other college towns in the future.
