Not only are Victoria Houser and Shauna Chung working toward their doctorates in Rhetorics, but they are co-teaching Clemson’s First Year Composition class while doing so. Victoria and Shauna won an award celebrating their demonstration of excellence in teaching first-year writing Victoria won the Adobe Creative Teaching Award for First-Year Writing. This award is presented to one graduate student who excels in teaching with technology using the Adobe Creative Suite. Shauna won the Thomas E. Douglass Award for Excellence in Teaching. Gabrielle Nugent recently received her MA in English Literature from Clemson University. Prior to attending graduate school, she worked in the publishing industry in New York City at places such as The New Yorker magazine, the independent book publisher, Grove/Atlantic, and the Aragi literary agency. Her research interests include twentieth- and twenty-first century fiction and poetry, ecocriticism, political philosophy, postcolonial studies, and comparative literature.
